About Us

George and Freddie’s Tapes was started in 1961 by an AA member named Freddie Miller from Hubbard, OH.

In 1970 he was joined by his sponsee George O’Neil.

George took over the business in 1997 after Freddie passed away.

George passed the business on to his sponsee Bill Youngman in 2003

With the help of the late Don Lewis as audio editor, they began to restore and transfer hundreds of recordings from cassette and reel to reel to CD.

IN 2008 JIM SHURTLEFF MET BILL AND DON AT A MEETING AND EVENTUALLY JOINED GEORGE & FREDDIE’S tAPES.

Bill and Jim now record many conferences and continue to restore old recordings.

We currently have approximately 75,000 AA and Al-Anon recordings. These include the collections from Ed Meade in Cleveland, OH. and Earl Chess of Nova Tapes from Winchester, VA. (see terms and conditions concerning transfer requests)

Bill has also done cassette to CD restorations of hundreds of recordings from the Akron and Cleveland archives which included many old-timers that were vital in spreading the message in the early days of AA. he also provided the sound clips for the bill w. documentary.

Both Bill and Jim are AA members and enthusiasts of AA history. We are dedicated to not only preserving AA history through recordings, but also providing quality selections of AA speakers that you won’t find anywhere else.

We will always honor and remember Freddie, George, and Don for their unselfish love and respect for Alcoholics Anonymous.

They worked tirelessly to record, copy, and preserve these recordings.

We continue their work.

We miss them dearly.
